The Senior Nutrition Action Council - SNAC
invites you to join us and enjoy a sense of accomplishment and contribution knowing your volunteered time is really making a difference. You will treasure your experiences with SNAC.
We are a 501(c)3 nonprofit, all volunteer, charitable organization that financially supports and supplements the Ventura County Area Agency on Aging Senior Meals Program.
This program provides nutritious meals at eleven sites throughout the county to anyone over the age of sixty. A minimal donation is requested, but there is no mandatory charge for the meal.
Some opportunities for volunteering with SNAC are:
Working at the Camarillo Thrift Store - Sorting, selling, displaying great donated items.
Participating in Deals on Wheels - Taking Thrift Store items to each mealsite for an on-site rummage sale. All proceeds go directly to that mealsite. This really is fun!
Making Themed Baskets for Raffle - A wonderfully creative and fun
endeavor, featured at each mealsite.
Joining the Shop for Fun-Dough Program - A monthly get-together with
county businesses, including lots of door prizes and give-a-ways for all who attend the meeting. Purchases from the participating businesses are tabulated into a formula that returns many dollars to SNAC.
Contributing to the SNAC Newsletter - Over 1,100 issues distributed quarterly
county-wide, with recipes, nutrition advice from the County's registered dietician and articles on new programs and program personnel. A mail-back envelope brings in welcomed donations. Click HERE to see current and past issues of this publication.
Joining the Board of Directors - The monthly meeting usually includes representatives both from the Area Agency on Aging, and from several meal sites. This is a great way to learn about the continuing enhancement of this wonderfully beneficial program.
SNAC also welcomes High School students who are seeking Community Service Credit Hours. Student Volunteers may work in the Thrift Store
